The Crafter's Log
Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 11:28AM I started off the year knitting this behemoth shawl. I finished the behemoth shawl sometime in April but just got around to weaving in the ends and blocking it yesterday. Here it is...
It is corner to corner plus some hang over on the bed, which, for size reference is a queen. Draped over my shoulders, it nearly touches the floor on either side. I'm 5'4". That makes this sucker about 10 ft end to end. 10 feet! The pattern clearly told me it was going to be large (Huge Triangle Shawl from Greetings from the Knit Cafe). I did not use the suggested yarn (shocker, I know), but instead used Paton's Classic Merino bought on sale for a fabulous price when the local A.C. Moore went out of business. I didn't really worry about gauge since it was a shawl knitted for wear around the house. I suppose this is a good indication of importance of gauge (Sigh, I had really hoped all those admonishments to get gauge were exaggerated).
The other project I've finished this year is this...![]()

...the baby blanket, which I'm mailing off on Monday. With a little luck, it will reach the Mom-to-be before she loses the to-be part.
