Giving the boot(ies) another try

I attempted these booties a couple of months ago for Shawn’s cousin’s little girl.  Well, the child wasn’t born with the feet of a five year old (thank goodness). 

 That is my hand in the picture for size reference.  So the booties were of no use.  Really, at this size they aren’t even cute.  So I’m trying again.  New yarn, smaller needles.  I’m hoping this will magically make them stiff enough to stand up on their own.  Failing, I will try to starch them into submission, which probably won’t work, and I’ll probably be too annoyed to try again with different yarn.  Good thing the blanket is done.
