On a Thursday

It turns out that this has been a rather slow week. I haven’t worked on the cross stitch, haven’t started the booties, and haven’t baked, cooked or gardened. Due to progress on the stack, I have ended the book fast. I have finished a couple of books, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and Dog On It. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society was really a series of short stories about the occupation of the island of Guernsey, England, by the German soldiers in World War II. The stories are told in the form of letters woven together into a larger story of community, survival, and the love of good books. Despite the heaviness of the subject (German occupation), the book flows along for an easy read.
On a lighter side, Dog On It was recommended by my mother-in-law and voracious reader, Janie Shipley. You can read her review (which I concur with) on her blog, Janiesworld.com.
