Weekend Update with Natalie Shipley

I should have appreciated my slow week more since when the weekend hit, it was go-go-go from Friday evening to Sunday night.

Friday, Shawn and I went to see a movie, in the theater.  Why is this notable?  It’s the first movie we’ve been to see in the theater since The Dark Knight .  Yeah, we don’t get out much.  The theater capacity was 150. The movie had been out for a while so there were maybe 25 people in the theater.  All 25 people sat within spitting distance of us.  Really?  We didn’t pick prime seating either.  The 3rd people to enter the theater sat 1 seat down from us.  This is pretty much akin to picking the bathroom stall next to someone when 15 others are available.

Saturday morning, I headed over to my Grandmother’s for some blueberry picking.  And then 3 hours later, Shawn and I struck off to see The Foreigner at the Cumberland County Playhouse with my parents.  I love a good play and The Foreigner is hilarious.  For those who have never been to the Cumberland County Playhouse, it is worthwhile to see one of their productions.  The actors are professional as are the set designers, directors, and choreographers.  No awkward community theatre productions here.

Sunday morning it was time to garden.  The green beans had a surprising explosion of production, and the lima beans were fat for picking.  Then the Chattanooga Market was having a peach festival, so a quick trip for a basket of peaches was warranted.  And then I had to by some plums for plum jelly.  So by the time Sunday afternoon rolled around here is what I had accumulated.

21 pints of blueberries, 5.5 pints of green beans, and I still haven’t finished.  I’m guessing there will be about 6 pints of limas, 5 or so pints of peaches, and about 4 pints of jelly.  If I wasn’t so tired, I’d be drunk with happiness.  Good entertainment and piles of produce.  Does it get any better?  I submit that it does not.
