Crafting Funk
Friday, August 21, 2009 at 07:14AM 1. Have gone into complete denial (already) over Christmas crafting schedule. Simultaneously, I want to craft (so many fresh projects!) and don’t want to craft (so many fresh projects!).
2. I went to a quilting show at the end of July. I was not inspired. I was annoyed. These people made hard quilts. I don't think we really need to set the bar so high. I can’t commit to finishing my “easy weekend” project. When you screw up cooking (can you say bread bricks?) or crocheting (the tube that refused to tube, stubbornly laying flat), it is pretty easy to dispose of the evidence. Not so with quilting. There is no ripping back once you’ve cut up fabric. While it may not be the most productive adage, I subscribe to “at first if you don’t succeed, destroy all evidence that you even tried.” Do you know how much space a lap quilt takes up in the garbage can? No? Well, then neither do I.
3. I want to make some more soap. Maybe lavender and rosemary. Cold and flu season is coming up so a nice eucalyptus blend would be good. Of course, I need to go upstairs and sort thru my supplies and figure out a recipe and order what I need and-meh, nevermind.
