Womb Watch
Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 07:04PM Shawn and I have been married for several years now. And pretty much since the day we got back from our honeymoon, people have been asking when the kids will show up (like that's anyone's business but ours). Lately, most of my friends have taken their turn around the birth canal which has only increased the scrutiny. But the funny thing is, when you talk to parents, no one tells you a warm fuzzy story. Instead, it's the stories about how their kid didn't sleep through the night until they were 3 or projectile vomit or how their 7 and 5 year old knocked down the big shoe display rough housing in the Carnival shoe store. Then, they turn and want to know when you're joining the party. "But you make it sound terrible," I say. "Oh, but it's totally worth it. Trust us," they say. "You can't really understand until you have one." Well, to me, that it like saying "Jump off this cliff. The rush is great and that stop at the bottom isn't so bad."
