Getting stuff done

Shawn and I have been off this week.  And this "vacation" has been about getting stuff done, especially for Shawn.  I took off Friday to meet and greet delivery folk and service people.  The stove repair guy came first to fix a broken eye on my stove.  Then I had the chimney sweep come (my attempt at advance planning).  Then came the dumpster delivery guy.  At first, I was just going to have him drop it on the old driveway, but he said he could get it right where we were going to use it.  I had doubts.  It was a big truck and a narrow space flanked on nearly all sides by flower beds.  He assured me, he could do it.

I tried to hover without looking like I was hovering, ready to throw myself between the inevitable truck tire and my flower beds.  But he squared it up perfectly.  I asked him at least four times if he would be the one to come pick it up  (I'm not sure anyone else could do it.)  Anyway, Shawn has been hard at work clearing out a rubble pile of broken concrete blocks and a small forest of hackberry trees that had set up shop in it.  He has also cleaned out the upstairs and we've taken truckloads of stuff to the charity second hand shop.  (I can see the floor again!  Happy day.)  I caught up on some of my gardening.  We spent the better part of Tuesday and a couple of hours yesterday hunting for lamps for our living room as Lucy cat had knocked over our second hand table lamps so often as to completely kill one of them and bent up the shade on the other so many times it hung permanently crooked.  We finally found some and now we have light again in our living room.  In between there has been a smidge of crafting, but not enough.
