Um, ok?

Monday night as I was headed to my parents to pick up the Nike (their farm + their dogs =our equivalent of doggie daycare), I was pulled over by a cop.  I was already on their road (which is very hilly) when I noticed him behind me.  I have no idea how long he was back there.  A quick check of the speedometer revealed I was speeding- 43 in a 35.  Not awful, but I slowed it down.  I doubt I was going much faster since the Jeep's center of gravity on that rolling road makes you feel as though you're about to pitch into a ditch if you go much faster.  His car had that super alert posture, the way you know the cop is just looking for a reason to pull you over.  At the foot of the hill my parents live on, I slowed down, giving plenty of turn signal warning.  BAM!  Blue lights.  Mother-of-pearl.  Really?  8 miles over the speed limit?  Fine, dude.  Just know that karma will find you, nit-picker.  I pull in the driveway and he pulls in behind me.  Now, Monday was my Grandmother's birthday and we were having a little family get-together.  My parents' driveway is long, but I know at this moment, they are all standing in the dining room, laughing at me.

The cop gets out of the car with his flashlight, walks to my window, and asks "You live here?"

"Yes, " which isn't true but I thought it was a simpler answer than "I'm here to pick up my dog.  I bring her here everyday so she can play. My parents live here.  Right now we're having a birthday dinner for my Grandmother."

"Well, a vehicle who's description matched yours was fleeing another officer, but that driver was male.  You live here?"

"My parents do."

"Well, this guy is in the area, so you be safe ok?"

"Um, ok."  Not sure what my reaction is supposed to be here.  So I roll out, "Thank you, officer."

So now in my life, I've been pulled over as a suspected fugitive.  I feel my life is a little more complete.
